A Group Writing Exercise

Ok, ok. Yes I am posting one of the writing exercises I did. But this is one we can all participate in!

Before you close the tab, let me explain. This is a lot of fun, whether you're doing it to exercise your creativity or not.

I'll let the book talk for a minute:

"Focus on you name. What it means to you and how you feel about it. If you don't know how it was chosen for you, maybe ask someone who may know why you were named as you were. But feel free to imagine or create a reason for your name."

Now answer the questions below. You can copy and paste it with your answers into the comments and share them, if you like, I would love to see what your answers are!

If your name were a flower, what would it be?

If your name were a color, what would it be?

If your name were a musical instrument, what would it be?

If your name were a ice cream flavor, what would it be?

If your name were a fabric what would it be?

If your name were a city anywhere in the world, what would it be?

If your name were a street or a highway, what street would it be?

If your name were a food, what would it be?

Again, please share your answers if you like, and what your thoughts were on this!

Thanks for reading. :)

P.S. For those of you slightly confused as to what I'm talking about here, read my last post.

  2. Wow, you know, a name is such an interesting thing to think about. When I hear a name I think of a personality, even if I don't know a person by that name. One name can sum up a whole being. They have so much meaning to us. Parents can't name their children for personality or looks since they are babies so I think it would be hard. I also sometimes wonder if our names effect our personalities any. So if you had a name like Jane you might be quieter and more patient then say, a Bernadette:D

If your name were a flower, what would it be? My name would be a round flower with many delicate petals spiraling from the center. It would be in light blue and white. I don't even know if there's a flower like that.

If your name were a color, what would it be? Blue, that's just what I picture.

If your name were a musical instrument, what would it be? Violin. Weird, I know. I've never even played it!

If your name were a ice cream flavor, what would it be? Vanilla with chocolate swirls. The vanilla is classic, smooth, but the swirls add a little extra fun!

If your name were a fabric what would it be? Silk

If your name were a city anywhere in the world, what would it be? I think it sounds like New York City. Beautiful , interesting and exciting.

If your name were a street or a highway, what street would it be? It would be a long Highway at night. The dark is lit only by the occasional flash of headlights. The Highway twists through dark pine forests and over rocky mountains.

If your name were a food, what would it be? Italian Ice.

I think my answers are reflecting my personality to. A lot of this is stuff I like, stuff I could picture myself doing.
